Supporting Adults with Mental Health Needs

Finding the right placement for someone with mental health needs often involves balancing stability, independence, risk and long-term recovery.
Oasis Care UK Group works with local authorities, NHS services and other professionals to discuss adult mental health placements, including both supported accommodation and residential care, depending on the individual's assessed needs and level of support required.
Every referral is assessed individually to ensure we can provide the right level of support for the person's needs and goals.
We Regularly Discuss Referrals Involving
Our Referrals Team welcomes conversations about adults who may benefit from either supported accommodation or residential care, depending on the person's independence, identified risks, clinical presentation and long-term goals.
Referrals may include people who are:
-
Preparing to leave an inpatient mental health setting.
-
Experiencing repeated placement breakdowns.
-
Finding it difficult to maintain a tenancy without additional support.
-
Requiring support with daily living, routines and community engagement.
-
Ready to move towards greater independence with ongoing professional support.
Every referral is considered individually to determine whether Oasis is the right provider.

Our Referral Approach
We recognise that no two mental health placements are the same. Some people benefit from the structure of residential care, while others are ready for the greater independence offered through supported accommodation. Our role is to work with professionals to determine which environment is most appropriate.
During the referral process, we'll work with you to understand:
-
the person's current presentation and support needs
-
existing professional involvement
-
identified risks and risk management plans
-
medication and health support requirements
-
previous placements and key learning
-
longer-term goals and expected outcomes
Where further information is required, we'll explain what we need before making a placement decision.
We recognise that mental health placements are rarely managed by one professional alone.
Where appropriate, we work alongside local authorities, NHS services, Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs), care coordinators and other involved professionals to help provide consistent support around the individual.
Clear communication and realistic planning are an important part of achieving stable placements.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Oasis consider referrals following a hospital admission?
Yes. We regularly discuss referrals for adults who are preparing to move from inpatient mental health services into a community-based setting. Every referral is assessed individually to ensure the placement is appropriate. You may also find our Hospital Step-down Care page helpful.
Can referrals be discussed before all documentation is available?
Yes. Early conversations are often helpful. If additional information is needed before a decision can be made, our Referrals Team will explain what is required.
How do you decide whether a placement is suitable?
Suitability is based on the individual's assessed needs, identified risks, existing support arrangements and whether Oasis can safely provide the environment and support required.
What happens if Oasis isn't the right provider?
If we don't believe we're the right provider, we'll explain why. Our aim is to help professionals make informed placement decisions and avoid unnecessary assessments where possible.
